Intec Project

Door Scheduling Software

Company Info

Intec Systems, established in 1981, have dedicated over 30 years software development to the Architectural Ironmongery Industry and enjoy an enviable reputation in the UK, Ireland and Dubai.

All software modules have been developed in house by Intec Systems and encompass many unique features written specifically for the industry. Bespoke modifications can be made easily at a reasonable cost to incorporate any individual requirements that you may have.

Intec Project, our Ironmongery Scheduling software suite, can be used as a stand alone product, as part of VISION for the Architectural Ironmonger, a fully integrated MIS system, or can be linked to an external invoicing system such as Sage via import and export modules.

VISION for the Architectural Ironmonger offers a fully integrated software suite that encompasses all of the administration and EPOS functionality necessary for your warehousing and trade counter requirements.

VISION includes many features unique to the industry and offers a cost effective, complete software solution for all departments within your organisation from the initial contact with the Architect, through the hardware scheduling / quotation process, order processing, accounting functions and includes extensive management information.

The EPOS module provides the benefit of integrated warehousing and trade counter facilities, for example, end of day Z reports / cashing up facilities, and includes unique features for managing the sale of 'specials' to customers that do not have trade account facilities.

Company Background

In 1983 Intec developed a bespoke stock control and accounting software suite for a local Ironmongery shop. The shop expanded into the Architectural field and with the additional administration requirements Intec enhanced the software to include Order Processing and Contracts Management.

Several buy out's eventually led to the ironmongery shop being purchased by the Frederick Cooper Group of companies, at that time one of the largest groups of Architectural Ironmongers in the UK. In 1991 Intec started the installation of the MIS software throughout the UK to all of the branches. During one of the installations at Beaver Architectural Ironmongery, an employee of Beaver suggested we wrote a system to schedule ironmongery, Intec Project was then developed which completed the full suite of programs. The managing director at Beaver was so impressed with the system and support services he introduced Intec to several other key people within the industry, the majority of whom ordered either Intec Project stand alone, or the full system. Most of these customers are still using Intec software to this day.

Intec quickly developed additional modules within the Door Scheduling system to provide more features to allow the software to work for the majority of Architectural Ironmongers throughout the UK. When developing the software we followed the format required by the Guild's examination and training program and worked closely with our client base to ensure the product encompassed the requirements of the GAI, Architects and the practical needs of the Estimator using the software.

The software was one of the few commercial Door Scheduling packages available and was installed into many companies of all sizes throughout the UK.

In 1995 we were honoured to be accepted as Associate Members of the Guild of Architectural Ironmongery. They acknowledged our expertise and commitment and we support their aims and objectives within the architectural ironmongery industry.

In 1998 Intec successfully developed the Industry in Southern Ireland, and subsequently installed the Door Scheduling system into various companies in Dubai and Hong Kong.

Developments in UAE, India and Asia have resulted in additional features and modules being written to encompass the global requirements of the Architectural Ironmonger.

A personal message from Kathryn Edge, founder of Intec Systems.

I would like to show my appreciation to the following people, some of whom are no longer in the industry, their advice and support was invaluable in the very early years.

Mr Peter Gardner, Mr Barry Compton, Mr John Fisher, Mr Keith Maer, Mr Julian Potter, Mr Bob Ramage, Mr Phil Newson.

All of our customers, past and present, large and small, the GAI, and many individuals within the industry who have no direct link with Intec have all offered their help, advice and friendship throughout the years and are instrumental in the growth and success of Intec Systems. I would like to say a sincere thank you to everybody for your support.

I am delighted to have been involved in the industry for such a long period of time, our commitment to both the software and Architectural Ironmongery industry will continue for many years to come.
